Have you ever wondered where expressions like “legendary”, “realness”, “walking the balls”, “mother” or “shade” originated from? ✨ No matter if you’re the biggest RuPaul’s Drag Race fan, a ballroom aficionado or just have a few queer friends you speak with daily, these words have become an integral part of the universal queer language. Join us for a watch party and a discussion round where we look through the eyes of the legendary houses of Xtravaganza, LaBeija and Pendavis in the cult classic Paris is Burning to learn more about the ballroom scene and prevalent topics in the LGBTQIA+ community at the end of the 20th century, including vogueing, the HIV/AIDS crisis, racism and homophobia.
